Join us for an introduction to the exciting world of rock climbing, hiking and kayaking at Devil’s Lake State Park. Surround yourself with colorful bluffs and trees while we teach the basics of rock climbing to beginners, and challenge those of you ready to take it higher. On this special climbing/kayaking multi-sport adventure, we will also teach you the basics of kayaking on Devil’s Lake.
We will be setting up camp Friday evening. All day Saturday and most of Sunday will be spent learning and refining your sea kayaking and rock climbing skills.
We generally sea kayak, hike and rock climb throughout Devil’s Lake State Park. Saturday morning we will be doing some instruction on the basic skills required to rock climb safely. Throughout the rest of the day you will have the opportunity to hike, rock climb, learn advanced rock skills, swim and enjoy the wilderness experience that Devil’s Lake provides.
Sunday morning the group will turn in the rock climbing harness for paddle and PFD and learn basic sea kayak skills. The remainder of the day will be spent touring Devil's Lake.
In order to provide the finest and most complete wilderness experience, we strongly encourage and expect participation in all camp chores, including cooking, washing dishes, setting up and breaking down camp. We will provide all meals (except in transit), tents, all camping and cooking equipment, and all rock climbing-related equipment. Showers and swimming are available at Devil's Lake. You maybe sharing a tent with fellow participants each night.
Devil’s Lake State Park is the largest state park in Wisconsin. The State Park is located on the western edge of Wisconsin. The park has 9,217 acres and is known for 500 foot high Quartzite bluffs along Devil’s Lake.
History Trivia: Devil’s Lake was created by a glacier approximately 12,000 years ago.
