Skokie Lagoons

The Skokie Lagoons in Winnetka are a hidden slice of the outdoors located close to the bustle of Chicago. This man made waterway is home to many wooded islands, hidden water trails, and abundant wildlife. The water trails are connected to the North Branch of the Chicago River.

Driving Directions:

From 94:

Northbound Exit at Willow Road eastbound.

Turn left at Forest Way Drive. Forest Way is the first street you come to on the left. There is not a light or stop sign so it can be easy to miss.

Follow Forest Way to the first stop sign- Tower Road. Turn left on Tower, cross over the bridge and left into the boat launch area.

Follow this to the end and you should see our trailer and van.

Southbound:

Exit at Tower Road Eastbound - you'll turn right across the expressway then an immediate right into the boat launch entrance.

From Lake Shore Drive:

Take Lake Shore Drive north to Sheridan.

Continue north on Sheridan through Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth and into Winnetka.

At the intersection with Tower (4 way stop) turn left. Take Tower west for approximately four miles.

You will pass Green Bay Road, Hibbard Road, and the 4 way stop at Forest Way.

Continue on Tower over the bridge, then turn left into the boat launch area.

The Skokie Lagoons Boat Launch is located at approximately 1760 Tower Road, Winnetka, IL 60093.

Public Transportation:

Unfortunately, the Skokie Lagoons are not easily accessible by public transportation.

However, they are right off of the North Branch Trail, and a great place to bike.

The Hubbard Woods Metra will get you about 2 miles away.

The Pace 423 Bus from Linden Purple Line will also get you about 2 miles away.
